Although it was a 4 day trading week, it rung in the new year with some promise. The NSE-ASI closed at 26,169.86 +5.64%  (+0.33% in the previous week).
Volume climbed to 2.12 billion shares (0.684 billion shares in the previous week). Comparing the first week to 2010 is equally encouraging as the index is up +26% from the same period with volumes up +41.5%. A trend if maintained could see the year exceeding 100 billion in volumes.
